2022.01.24 07:50 FeralVsCinder WildWork's Fer.al vs Cinder - Gaming Erasure in Favor of NFTs
| This is a topic that has been sitting hot and heavy with me for a while, and I'm curious to know what people outside of the community feel about it. None of the Fer.al discourse is being covered publicly as it's not a big game/from a big company as well as Cinder hasn't been released to the public yet. |
WildWorks (formerly SmartBomb Interactive, known for Animal Jam and Animal Jam Play Wild and their past partnership with NatGeo) is jumping on the NFT bandwagon and trying to erase an entire game along with the community, pretend like it never happened and present the entire game (with less content) to a new crowd as a new groundbreaking never-before-seen concept.
The community has a document being worked on that tracks the history of issues with Fer.al and a drive for Fer.al and Cinder along with other WW games. Some of the documentors have given up from how things have progressively gotten worse as WildWorks has abandoned the game and community.
Fer.al is a WildWorks game that came out in late 2019 for closed beta testers chosen randomly and later opened to the public on May 20, 2020. This game has had two years of development and allegedly 6million invested into it. At the start of development the communication between developers and the players was very cooperative, lots of feedback going both ways. They implemented "season passes" priced at 10.99 USD on June 23rd, 2020 that each last 2 months along with the promise of those items would never return and be exclusive to that season pass. Lots of players bought the pass with the idea those were exlucisve items, as that's how they were marketed and promised.
On July 30, 2021 a WildWorks employee made an announcement saying they would be stepping back to work on a better foundation for the game and that they would begin repeating season passes starting with the first one. This is speculated to be when Cinder was actually starting to be put into motion as the entire Fer.al team seemed to disappear from fixing anything broken with the game. At the time there had already been 6 season passes, and the 7th and 8th would be nearly identical to the first two passes. The price of the pass had been dropped to 5.99 USD and premium currency could now be earned in the passes. The last genuine update to the game (July15, 2021) implemented "Skyjellies", a pvp material to create items in a new shop that rotates items faster than you can collect the ingredients. The skyjelly harvest points have been broken since day 1, the servers never go down to refresh and over time they break and cannot be fixed until servers reset normally at the start of a new season pass. The latest season pass has yet to be implemented in and is already 2 months late.
On November 27, 2021 the Fer.al instagram made a post saying the CEO of WildWorks, Clark Stacey, will host an AMA about the new game, Cinder. The entire AMA can be found on the Fer.al discord in a channel dedicated to the AMA questions and answers. The AMA summed up was Clark Stacey saying Cinder is going to be a blockchain game and the revenue would be to support the further production of Cinder as well as support Fer.al, that the main audience for Cinder isn't intended to be those from the Fer.al community and that he doesn't expect there to be any understanding as to why he made the decision to make an NFT game and that Fer.al's production would not be impacted by the development/existence of Cinder. Another big problem is that Cinder is going to be using the exact same assets as Fer.al. In the trailer video for Cinder you can see the maps that Fer.al has had for two years along with NPCs and some material harvest points. At the time the announcement was made it was during a halloween season pass, so the Cinder trailer video has halloween themes for the maps. Once the AMA ended, Clark Stacey went silent and made no further contact with the server aside from lurking and no posts have been made to any social medias regarding Fer.al.
On December 2, 2021, WWAdmin (allegedly a shared account between WW staff) started interacting with the server to try and discourage the "toxic conversations", compared NFTs to necessities like elecricity&driving and that if the players cannot give up those luxuries then they should stop complaining about the impact NFTs/blockchain does to the environment (essentially to stop virtue signalling) and set the chat cooldown for every channel to 30 minutes. A few months prior to this sudden support of NFTs one of their other games (Animal Jam Play Wild) had an ingame announcement condemning cryptocurrency. Within days of the AMA, Clark made an article talking about the upset from the Fer.al community and called the community an "online lynch mob". He altered the statement after he received backlash for being insensitive and dramatic.
Currently the Fer.al discord has had no interaction from the WildWorks team since December 2. The Cinder discord went public and has received more interaction from WildWorks than Fer.al has in 7 months. Inside the Cinder discord nobody is allowed to discuss Fer.al or you will get banned, anything negative towards NFTs/Blockchain/Wildworks/Clark stacey will get you banned, any mentions of corn get you banned. During one of the AMAs for Cinder they refer to Fer.al as a "big toybox" and repeatedly calling the game "prototype" despite it being a game entirely on its own for two years. So far they have held multiple AMAs on what the game would be comprised of, they confirmed there would be no collecting materials, and no NPCs despite the trailer videos having those exact elements (meaning they didn't even fully prepare their trailer video to showcase the true lack of content Cinder will have). It is also stated that it's not meant to be an RPG at all but will have PVP/PVE eventually, for now it will mostly be an expensive chatroom until further development. The roadmap is public on the website, and is already being delayed and altered. During the AMA it was asked where the funding Cinder receives would go, a "Cinder Team member" replied saying the funding would go to Cinder full stop. (This is important later)
On January 19, 2022 Wildworks introduced Cinder at the Cryptopia event. Clark Stacey said Cinder has been in the works for two years and 6million had been sunk into it (sounds familiar...). Originally there were to be 11,111 "Cinder Faes" but it was lowered to 4,444 as there isn't a lot of interest displayed by those in the Cinder discord server. To obtain access to the Cinder game you must purchase a Cinder Fae, as of right now Wildworks employees have confirmed the price of each Fae avatar will be "definitely under 1.5 SOL" and the mint date has been pushed to February.
On January 20, 2022 Cinder held their first Voice AMA. The intensions behind this are speculated to be for avoiding questions they don't want to answer. In the previous text AMAs they would delete questions they didn't like and go out of the way to not answer questions even if only one was being asked. The Fer.al community has been keeping every announcement and AMA recorded as it has become commonplace for WildWorks employees to go back on their word and lie to the communities without making an official announement stating they have made different decisions. During the AMA CinderSpire was outted as Clark Stacey by his co-host calling him the wrong name multiple times and having to correct herself. When comparing the CinderSpire voice to an old Clark Stacey video their voices are exactly the same. CinderSpire has yet to interact publicly with the Cinder discord since, unsure if there's any correlation. 150 Whitelist spots for NFT minting were given away and no sign of CinderSpire/Clark Stacey during the entire event.
Simplified? 1) LACK OF TRANSPARENCY - Working on Fer.al's roadmap (never made public if it exists), keeping players at the table for decision making but secretly working on Cinder, didn't even inform the head moderator for the server
2) FALSE ADVERTISING - Season pass ITEMS are exclusive and never to return (quoted by head mod who has since left the discord and the quote is from a channel that was deleted) Items did return when they started repeating passes to avoid making new content
3) LYING TO BOTH COMMUNITIES - CEO says Cinder's purpose is to provide new source of income to keep Fer.al running until it can sustain itself. Clark Stacey and CinderSpire are the same person - CEO of WildWorks. He's going by an alias and purposelly not telling the Cinder community that CinderSpire is his account and pretending he doesn't understand why there's "confusion".

2022.01.24 07:50 ParaZankai Sonos Beam 2 received, working perfectly in Stereo but no Atmos, am I missing something ?
Hello everyone !
I just receved my Sonos Beam (Gen 2) sound bar, and it's really great, good sound :)
However, I am having trouble to set up Dolby Atmos (or even any Dolby format in general). I have to say I am quite new to these formats and I think I may be missing something.
My configuration is a gaming PC (RTX 2060) connected in HDMI to my TV (Sony KD55X7056) and the Sonos Beam Gen 2 connected to this TV on the HDMI ARC port.
I tried installing the Dolby Access App and setup Dolby Atmos, but I only have "Dolby Atmos for headphones" in the drop down list of the spatial sound properties of the TV, and "Dolby Atmos for home theater" is not available.
I only have access to "Stereo", "A" and "B" in the TV sound options.
I do not know if I am doing something wrong or if some of my hardware is not compatible.
Help would be appreciated :)

2022.01.24 07:50 Error_co-Id10T Buying bitcoin for the first time during the crash
I know a lot of haters here that says "stop say buy the dip" and I totally get you. You should buy when there's a reason for the price to go down so you now it will go up again. However, this time I'm not making any chances. I got paid for a small job as a teenager in bitcoins becuase it seemed fun. $200 during april 2014. I sold them the week after because i needed smokes. You think i feel sorry when the price passed 30k? So yea, I'm sorry if it's gonna take 7 years but no, I'm not missing out again.
